Developing countries around the world are most affected by dengue and mosquito borne illness, and Thailand, with its tropical weather and large underprivileged communities, faces mosquito infestation every year.

There are many ways that people battle mosquitos; however, many of the effective ones are too expensive for the poor or harmful to people and the environment while the eco-friendly options are ineffective as scalable anti-mosquito solutions as well as in reaching the hidden breeding sites of mosquitos.

In the battle against dengue and mosquito borne illness, the poor and unprotected suffer the most, and SCG Chemicals initiated this project to find a way to help.



Our mission is to create a sustainable anti-mosquito solution for underprivileged communities around the world.  With dengue and mosquito-borne illness cases and deaths at an all-time high, it is imperative that we work towards a sustainable, eco-friendly and accessible solution for people of the world, regardless of their social class.

With the ideation and development of The Nano Shoes, we hope to bring this vision to life. And in doing so, improve the quality of life of those affected by mosquitoes.


What Is The Nano Shoes?


The Nano Shoes is an innovative, eco-friendly solution to fighting mosquitoes and mosquito-borne illnesses at the source… mosquito breeding sites.

To develop it, we took a synthetic, naturally-occurring mosquito-specific larvacide (BTI) and re-engineered it with nano particles to give it an negative charge (-) to enable it to stick to the mosquitoes’ legs… like shoes.

As mosquitoes with Nano Shoes land at their breeding sites, Nano Shoe larvacide is released into the water and effectively stops mosquito larvae from maturing into adult mosquitoes.


Why Nano Shoes?

Female mosquitoes can lay up to 300 eggs across 3-4 different breeding sites after mating only once. Of these breeding sites, it is estimated that around 80% of them are hidden from or undetectable by humans.

Nano Shoes helps solve this problem by using mosquitoes to locate the breeding sites while also introducing the Nano Shoe larvacide into them… helping control mosquito population at the source.

A single mosquito with Nano Shoe larvacide can potentially stop 1,000s of larvae from maturing into adult mosquitoes and it does not affect other insects or humans, helping keep the underprivileged safe and healthy.
